The Relationship Manager for EMDOS (Embassies, Multilateral and Donor Organizations) is responsible for prospecting, acquiring, and converting key accounts identified within the country. The role involves deepening existing relationships and growing UBA’s market share in this specialized sector by ensuring seamless onboarding and the delivery of superior financial products and services.
Key Responsibilities
Database Management: Identify and maintain an updated database of Embassies, Multilateral and Donor Organizations (EMDO’s) and identify must-win accounts/mandates.
Relationship Conversion: Continually liaise with Group EMDOs Team to ensure EMDOs mandates are converted and on-boarded seamlessly.
Strategic Engagement: Follow through on engagement with the "Must Win" list and recurrently submit proposals for their attention.
Service Excellence: Ensure all service commitments are met to provide excellent product delivery to the EMDO community.
Account Acquisition: Engage embassies and donor agencies to pursue account openings, especially for new projects.
Product Knowledge: Maintain a thorough understanding of the bank’s products and services relating to EMDO’s.
Executive Support: Support the Country Head in managing Group EMDOs relationships (negotiation, opening, and management).
Business Development: Build relationships consistent with market penetration targets, including annual plans and monthly pipeline management.
Stakeholder Networking: Network with key stakeholders to ensure UBA is included in RFIs, RFPs, and relevant events.
Global Collaboration: Actively engage EMDO RMs in London and New York to secure support on pitches for organizations headquartered outside Africa.
Project Insight: Proactively engage EMDOs to understand African projects and fund flows, identifying relevant execution agencies or vendors.
Social Impact Engagement: Identify SDG-related events and causes for potential bank partnerships or sponsorships.
Qualifications and Experience
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in managing relationships, leading sales teams, or business development in a financial services firm. Prior experience in EMDO relationship banking is preferred.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Finance, Economics, or Marketing. A Master’s degree is an added advantage.
Knowledge: Understanding of marketing and embassy operations.
