The Business Banking Relationship Manager is responsible for the acquisition of new business banking clients and the expansion or retention of existing relationships. The role involves structuring, underwriting, negotiating, and managing credit relationships. The successful candidate will develop and execute relationship management plans, collaborating effectively with support teams and senior management to meet the financial needs of clients through the Bank’s products, including loans, deposits, treasury, and insurance solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development
Maintains and grows a profitable book of business through disciplined and proactive business development and relationship management.
Highly focused on target client profile; understands their financial needs and effectively communicates value proposition.
Develops an in-depth knowledge of Bank products and services. Cross-selling products based on customer needs while collaborating with other teams.
Attains established business targets on loans and deposits through active participation in sales management process.
Underwriting
Effectively identifies key risk factors associated with business opportunities and clearly articulates by preparation of credit presentations.
Participates in the underwriting and credit approval process.
Structures, underwrites, and obtains credit approval, negotiates terms, and effectively documents credit actions and agreements.
Relationship Management
Takes ownership for client relationship with the Bank.
Prioritizes relationships effectively and has an appropriate relationship management plan for each customer.
Takes a consultative approach to understanding client’s objectives, effectively identifies financial needs, and implements appropriate solutions.
Effectively collaborates with client service team, product team, and senior management to ensure excellent client experience.
Maintains a working knowledge of bank operating policies and procedures.
Portfolio Management
Accountable for overall portfolio management, compliance, and risk.
Monitors conduct of portfolio to ensure performance is consistent with approved limits and loan structures.
Completes accurate and timely credit actions, including periodic reviews, renewals, and modifications.
Ensures that borrower reporting requirements and financial covenants are met.
Teamwork & Leadership
Treats people with respect; keeps commitments; inspires trust; works ethically.
Exhibits leadership by example, pursuing high performance and professionalism.
Performs any other duties as may be directed by the supervisor.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or a relevant field.
3-5 years of experience managing business banking relationships.
Experience in developing, structuring, underwriting, and negotiating credit transactions.
Skills & Competencies
Self-starter with the ability to take ownership with minimal supervision.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
High analytical skills.
