Job Description
As a Registered Nurse I – Theatre Nurse at Mombasa County Public Service Board, you will be responsible for providing specialized nursing care within the operating theatre environment. The role involves preparing the surgical environment, assisting the surgical team during procedures, and ensuring the safety and well-being of patients throughout the perioperative period.
Responsibilities
Prepare operating theatres and ensure all equipment is sterilized and ready for procedures.
Assist surgeons and anesthetists during operations by providing instruments and maintaining aseptic technique.
Monitor patients’ vital signs before, during, and after surgery.
Provide pre-operative and post-operative nursing care, including patient education and counselling.
Maintain accurate records of surgical procedures and patient progress.
Ensure adherence to infection prevention and control protocols in the theatre environment.
Handle specimens safely and ensure proper documentation for laboratory analysis.
Support emergency surgical interventions when required.
Participate in continuous professional development and contribute to theatre team training.
Requirements & Qualifications
Diploma in any of the following disciplines: Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing, Kenya Registered Nursing, Kenya Registered Midwifery, Kenya Registered Nursing/Midwifery, or Kenya Registered Nursing/Mental Health and Psychiatry from a recognized institution.
Higher Diploma in Kenya Registered Perioperative Nursing or Kenya Registered Theatre Nursing from a recognized institution.
Registration certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
Valid practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya.
Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
