The overall purpose of this role is to deliver volume, revenue, and market share growth by effectively managing the Sales General Trade Team. The Regional Sales Manager will implement business plans while delivering a superior customer experience through leadership of Trade Development Representatives and engagement with distributors.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Trade and Outlet Execution
Execute outlet strategies against the picture of success (QDVPPP).
Drive implementation of cycle plans, including promotions and other trade initiatives.
Monitor competitive activities through the team and advise the National Sales Manager (NSM).
Ensure and monitor price compliance across the region.
Outlet Development
Build and develop collaborative relationships with retail partners.
Develop, review, and implement route plans for Trade Development Representatives.
Ensure merchandising and execution standards are consistently met.
Drive horizontal expansion through new outlet listings.
Sales and Market Share Growth
Manage and measure sales targets on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis, taking necessary corrective actions.
Allocate execution resources (e.g., POS / promotional material) for maximum return on investment.
Monitor route coverage by distributors.
Manage sales orders (Sell-In and Out) to address gaps and ensure no out-of-stock (OOS) situations in retail.
Identify and realize sales opportunities within the Unga Category.
Drive consistent sales volume growth.
Distributor Management
Ensure Order Generation (OG) is realized at all distributors according to agreed purchase plans and company targets.
Track monthly distributor financial health and sustain strong relationships with distributors.
Proactively maintain a healthy brand/pack mix to generate a healthy P&L for Unga.
Inventory Optimization
Apply methodologies to ensure maintenance of appropriate stock levels across distributors.
Provide support and guidance to distributors and dealers regarding stock optimization.
People Management
Provide guidance and support to the team on distributor operating standards.
Identify gaps and build capability for TDRs, distributors, and DSRs.
Handle orientation, induction, and training of team members.
Manage daily performance and conduct weekly coaching and accompaniment in the trade.
Oversee the management of distributor accounts receivables.
Job Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree in a business-related field.
Additional Qualification: A Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing is an added advantage.
Experience: At least six (6) years of experience in sales and marketing within the FMCG sector, specifically in General Trade.
Licensing: Valid driving license with a clean driving record.
