The Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa is seeking a dynamic and dedicated PYP Homeroom Teacher to join its Junior School educators' team. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality, interactive lessons that enable each student to reach their potential while creating a safe and exciting learning environment with high expectations. The role involves leading learning and teaching practices, developing formative and summative assessments to report on student progress in line with the IB PYP curriculum, and collaboratively planning units of study designed to maximize learning for all students.
Duties and Responsibilities
Curriculum Planning: Plan curriculum documents collaboratively to reflect the standards and practices of the Academy and the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP).
Teaching Practice: Engage in effective teaching practices that embrace inquiry-based learning methods and differentiate activities to meet the diverse needs of all students.
Assessment and Reporting: Authentically assess, record, and track student progress. Communicate this information sensitively and honestly to parents and guardians to inform future teaching.
Communication: Effectively communicate necessary programme information to all stakeholders.
Resource Management: Manage programme resources effectively and ensure the careful maintenance of existing inventory.
School Life: Actively participate in the life of the Junior School and the Academy as a whole, including activities outside of normal school hours.
Student Welfare: Monitor student behavior at all times to ensure adherence to the core values expressed in the student handbook and discipline policy.
Professional Growth: Actively participate in the Appraisal for Growth process as a member of the Academy's professional learning community.
