I&M Bank is seeking a Project Manager within the Project Management Office (PMO) to lead project implementation by managing medium to large projects. The role ensures business requirements are delivered within the approved scope, schedule, and budget. You will be responsible for building consensus with stakeholders and leading change management processes to enable smooth project transitions and integrations.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
Initiation: Prepare project initiation documents and ensure commitment and support from business and project sponsors.
Requirements: Oversee gathering and confirmation of business, technical, and information security requirements for new projects.
Procurement: Prepare RFI/RFQ/RFPs as per documented business requirements.
Vendor Management: Lead end-to-end management of vendor evaluation, selection, and negotiations; ensure legal and performance requirements align with internal policies.
Planning: Approve project plans and critical paths for efficient scheduling.
Resource Management: Analyze and recommend physical and human resource needs; continuously review assigned resources to identify and resolve gaps.
Coordination: Manage and track cross-team/squad dependencies.
Risk Management: Promote a project risk management culture, maintaining Project RAID logs and collaborating with risk owners on mitigation strategies.
Financials: Approve project expenditure and monitor costs against budget to guarantee value on delivery.
Quality & Governance: Ensure adherence to quality management processes and internal governance policies through periodic checks.
Reporting: Provide proactive visibility of delivery targets and timelines; develop periodic (monthly/bi-monthly) status reports for project committees.
Stakeholder Management
Manage stakeholders for projects in Kenya and its subsidiaries.
Identify project stakeholders and develop appropriate engagement strategies based on their influence and interest.
Maintain valuable relationships with all project partners and engage them frequently to ensure alignment.
Change Management and Governance
Recommend change management strategies and frameworks to ensure successful implementation within budget.
Collaborate on learning programs for continuous adoption of system changes.
Prepare documentation including Data migration, User Acceptance Testing (UAT) sign-off, and Training.
Coordinate production environment setup, User Access Matrix (UAM) approvals, and Service Level Agreements (SLA).
Lead system stabilization after cut-over and facilitate formal handover.
Leadership
Lead project implementation teams and provide mentoring and coaching.
Equip teams to tailor solutions and adapt to unique project situations.
Supervise performance and support capacity building within the department.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution.
Experience: 8-12 years of direct work experience in a banking environment.
Certifications: Professional qualifications in Project Management (PMP, PRINCE 2) or training in Agile methodologies (Scrum and Kanban).
Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, planning, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
