About the Role
The Project Coordinator will lead the overall coordination of the "Strengthening Responsive Caregiving for Children and Families" planning project in Kenya. This role ensures full alignment with the approved project description, budget, and donor requirements (Conrad Hilton Foundation). The successful candidate will manage the project's Detailed Implementation Plan (DIP), procurement plan, and activity budget, ensuring timely and high-quality execution. The position involves collaborating with county governments, international partners, and multidisciplinary research teams.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Project Leadership and Coordination
Lead the overall coordination of the project in Kenya, ensuring alignment with donor requirements.
Manage the Detailed Implementation Plan (DIP), procurement plan, and activity budget.
Coordinate all partners and stakeholders involved in project implementation to ensure smooth and timely execution.
Engage with the Mozambique project counterpart to share lessons and best practices.
Participate in external workshops and relevant technical working groups to foster project objectives.
Evidence Synthesis, Evaluation, and Research Management
Coordinate the synthesis of past program evaluation results, including findings from previous Nurturing Care Program projects.
Manage process evaluation activities in collaboration with Emory University, including fieldwork and data collection.
Facilitate bottleneck analysis workshops addressing critical delivery issues like birth registration and mental health referrals.
Organize multi-country learning visits, including agenda design and logistics management.
Support costing studies by coordinating the collection of programmatic and financial data.
Convene co-creation workshops with partners to refine the Responsive Caregiving model Theory of Change.
Participatory Research and Partner Capacity Strengthening
Coordinate Learning and Reflection Workshops with local implementing partners and government stakeholders in target areas like Bunyala and Ndhiwa.
Theory of Change Refinement and Documentation
Organize high-stakes co-creation workshops with county government partners and the Lake Region Economic Bloc (LREB) secretariat.
Support learning dissemination events to share findings and advocate for the institutionalization of the updated model.
Document insights, human-interest stories, and best practices for internal learning and external visibility.
Qualifications and Experience
Academic Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Studies, Development Studies, Health Sciences (Public Health, Health Education, Health Promotion), Psychology, Sociology, or a related discipline.
Additional training in project management and research and evaluation methods is desirable.
Professional Experience
Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in community development programming.
At least one year focused on Early Childhood Development (ECD) and Nurturing Care initiatives.
Demonstrated experience managing or coordinating complex grants valued at over $500,000 USD.
Proven capacity to work with county governments in Kenya, especially within the Lake Region Economic Bloc (LREB).
Experience collaborating with international donors and multidisciplinary research teams is preferred.
Contextual knowledge of Busia, Homa Bay, Kisumu, Siaya, and Nyamira Counties is an added advantage.
