The Product Manager – Liabilities is responsible for the strategic development, management, optimization and commercialization of the bank’s liabilities product portfolio including deposits, transactional accounts, savings solutions, term deposits and structured liability products. The role drives deposit growth, funding diversification, product competitiveness, customer value proposition and profitability while ensuring compliance, operational efficiency and digital enablement in support of the bank’s transition to Tier-1 status.

Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Portfolio Leadership
Develop and execute liability product strategies aligned to funding, liquidity and growth objectives.
Manage the full product lifecycle from concept to launch, enhancement and rationalization.
Design segment-specific deposit propositions for Retail, SME, Commercial and Corporate markets.
Identify market opportunities for innovative deposit solutions.
Deposit Growth & Commercial Performance
Drive growth in deposit volumes, mix quality and cost of funds optimization.
Develop pricing strategies and interest rate structures aligned to market dynamics.
Monitor portfolio performance and recommend tactical interventions.
Partner with business units to achieve deposit mobilization targets.
Innovation & Digital Enablement
Design digitally enabled deposit products and onboarding journeys.
Collaborate with Technology and Digital teams to enhance product accessibility.
Support automation of account opening, servicing and cross-selling journeys.
Develop ecosystem-linked deposit solutions.
Market Intelligence & Competitive Positioning
Conduct competitor benchmarking and market research.
Monitor trends in funding markets and customer preferences.
Recommend enhancements to maintain product competitiveness.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
Ensure product structures comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
Maintain up-to-date product documentation and pricing frameworks.
Support product approval processes and governance committees.
Monitor compliance and audit findings relating to liability products.
Stakeholder Collaboration
Work closely with Treasury, Finance, Risk, Operations, Technology Sales and other relevant teams.
Provide technical support and training to business teams.
Support marketing initiatives and product campaigns.
Performance Analytics & Reporting
Develop dashboards tracking product uptake, profitability and mix.
Monitor funding concentration, deposit stability and behavioral trends.
Provide insights into decision making and strategy refinement.
Academic & Professional Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Banking, Business, Statistics or related field
Master’s degree in MBA, Finance or Strategy is an added advantage
Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, CFA, ACT, or equivalent is desirable
Professional banking qualification (AKIB or equivalent) is an added advantage
Certification in Product Management or Digital Banking is desirable
Experience Requirements
Minimum 7–10 years banking experience
At least 4–5 years’ experience in liabilities product management, treasury, deposits or funding
Proven experience managing deposit products or funding portfolios
Exposure to multi-segment banking environments (Retail, SME, Corporate)
Demonstrated experience launching or optimizing liability products
Experience with digital banking channels preferred
