Job Description
The Principal Planning and Strategy Officer at the National Council for Children’s Services (NCCS) is responsible for guiding the organization's strategic direction through research, policy development, and performance management. NCCS is a State Corporation established under the Children Act, 2022, mandated to regulate, coordinate, and oversight children services in Kenya. This role involves translating research findings into policy briefs to improve children's services, initiating codes of conduct for child protection, and managing the Council's performance contracts.
Responsibilities
Carrying out research and translating research findings into policy briefs to inform improvement of services.
Initiating the development of policies and codes of conduct to regulate good practice relating to child protection and child welfare.
Preparation and implementation of the Council’s performance contract.
Participating in the preparation of Medium-Term Expenditure Frameworks (MTEF), Medium Term Plans, and other related assignments in the Annual Government Budgeting cycles.
Coordinating policy advocacy initiatives of the Council.
Requirements and Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:
At least nine (9) years’ work experience, three (3) of which must be at the grade of Senior Planning and Strategy Officer or in a comparable position.
Bachelor's Degree in any of the following fields: Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Strategic Management, Business Development, Development Studies, and Business Administration or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
Membership to a relevant professional body.
A Management Course lasting not less than Four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
