Job Description
Kenya Maritime Authority was set up in June 2004 as the semi-autonomous agency in charge of regulatory oversight over the Kenyan maritime industry. As the pacesetter of the Kenyan maritime industry, the Authority seeks to strengthen maritime administration in Kenya through enhancement of regulatory and institutional capacities for maritime safety and security.
Role Overview
The Principal Maritime Trade and Development Officer is responsible for coordinating growth and oversight within the maritime trade sector. This involves developing frameworks for service provider monitoring and identifying restrictive trade practices to ensure a competitive and efficient maritime industry in Kenya.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinating the development of a Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) framework for Maritime Transport Service Providers to facilitate monitoring of service delivery.
Identifying anti-competitive or restrictive trade practices in the maritime industry.
Evaluating service delivery standards across the maritime transport sector.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must possess a Bachelor's Degree in any of the following fields:
Business Administration or Business Management
Logistics or Maritime Studies
Port Management or Transport Economics
Bachelor of Dental Surgery (as listed in original posting)
Advanced Qualifications include:
Master of Business Administration
Master’s Degree in Maritime Transport, Port Management, Shipping, or Transport Economics
Professional Requirements
Be admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
At least 3 years of experience at the level of a senior officer.
