The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) is seeking to recruit 17 Principal Investigations Officers. The successful candidates will be responsible for conducting investigations and providing rapid response initiatives into complaints related to offences committed by any member of the National Police Service. This role is pivotal in ensuring civilian accountability and promoting public trust and confidence in the National Police Service through impartial and independent oversight.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct thorough investigations into complaints involving offences committed by members of the National Police Service.
Provide rapid response initiatives to ensure immediate action on reported incidents or complaints.
Gather and preserve forensic and other evidence related to investigative cases.
Coordinate investigative activities and ensure strict adherence to legal and professional standards.
Manage and mentor junior investigation staff within the department.
Prepare and submit comprehensive investigative reports and recommendations to the Authority for further action.
Requirements and Qualifications
A cumulative service period of at least nine (9) years, with a minimum of three (3) years at the grade of Senior Investigations Officer (IPOA 7) or equivalent.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Forensic Science, Criminal Justice, Criminology, Law, Social Science, or any other relevant field from a recognized institution.
Completion of a Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
Membership in a relevant professional body (where applicable).
Proficiency in Computer Applications.
Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
