Job Description
The National Legal Aid Service (NLAS) is a state agency established under the Legal Aid Act 2016 with the mandate to offer legal aid services to vulnerable, marginalized, and indigent persons in Kenya.
The Principal Corporate Communication Officer is responsible for leading the development and execution of the agency's communication strategies, enhancing public awareness of NLAS's mandate, and coordinating stakeholder engagements.
Key Responsibilities
Initiating and developing appropriate communication strategies.
Coordinating the preparation of publication materials.
Maintaining a comprehensive media database.
Preparing annual work plans and budgets for the department.
Maintaining a mailing list of all stakeholders.
Managing linkages with external stakeholders.
Organizing protocol and media events.
Qualifications and Experience
At least nine (9) years of cumulative work experience, with three (3) years at the grade of Senior Corporate Communication Officer or in a comparable position in either the private or public sector.
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Marketing, Public Relations, Communication and Media, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Certificate in a Management Course.
Active membership in a relevant professional body, where applicable.
Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
