Job Description
The Policy Analyst for Nutrition & Dietetics at the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) is responsible for undertaking high-level public policy research and analysis. This role involves aligning research with the Institute’s mandate and strategic objectives, providing technical policy options to stakeholders, and evaluating public policies and reforms. The analyst will also manage stakeholder relationships, coordinate dissemination activities to enhance policy uptake, and oversee project planning and budgeting to ensure evidence-based decision-making.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Undertake public policy research and analysis to ensure alignment with the Institute’s mandate, quality standards, and strategic objectives.
Inform technical advice, input, and policy options to stakeholders in public policy research and analysis.
Organize the formulation, review, and evaluation of public policies, strategies, and reforms.
Organize effective relationships with key stakeholders, including policymakers, implementers, development partners, and other research institutions.
Prepare dissemination activities to enhance visibility and policy uptake of research findings.
Undertake project planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and implementation to ensure timely and efficient delivery.
Undertake data analysis and information-sharing activities to strengthen evidence-based decision-making.
Prepare quarterly, annual, and donor reports in line with performance contracting and accountability frameworks.
Qualifications and Experience
A cumulative service period of six (6) years, with at least three (3) years at the grade of Assistant Policy Analyst I or in a comparable position.
Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Economics and Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Public Policy, Development Studies, Law, Engineering, Geo-Information Systems (GIS), Urban Planning, Gender, Nutrition, Food Science, International Relations, Political Science, Public Administration, Social Policy, Public Health, Public Finance, or Environmental Studies from a recognized institution.
Master’s degree in any of the above-mentioned or related fields from a recognized institution.
Proficiency in data analytics.
Proficiency in statistical software and programming languages such as Stata, R, Python, or similar, and working knowledge of databases.
