The POL Facility Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of fuel systems, infrastructure, and support facilities within the Diego Garcia fuel supply system. This role involves coordination with stakeholders, preventative planning, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and operational standards. The manager will lead efforts in facility maintenance, planning, and spill prevention to ensure the smooth integration of Petroleum, Oil, and Lubricants (POL) operations with other base functions.
Responsibilities
Facility Maintenance and Planning
Develop and implement short- and long-range facility maintenance plans for fuel systems and support facilities.
Inspect and monitor utilities, structures, fire suppression systems, storage facilities, and fuel transfer infrastructure.
Oversee truck refueling facilities and miscellaneous POL-related support areas.
Spill Prevention and Countermeasures
Create and maintain spill prevention and countermeasures plans in compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Coordinate and implement actions to prevent and respond to spills promptly and effectively to mitigate risks.
Coordination and Collaboration
Coordinate with Contractor and Government personnel from various annexes to resolve operational issues.
Collaborate with teams responsible for fire protection, logistics, equipment maintenance, and landscaping for integrated base functions.
Operations and Oversight
Supervise maintenance and repair activities to ensure optimal functionality of fuel systems.
Monitor compliance with operational, environmental, and safety standards for the entire POL facility infrastructure.
Requirements
Minimum of five (5) years of experience coordinating and administering bulk fuel management operations.
Experience in both operational and managerial capacities.
Strong understanding of spill prevention and countermeasures planning, including safety and environmental regulations.
Ability to create and oversee maintenance plans for complex fuel systems and associated facilities.
Competency in conducting facility inspections and monitoring infrastructure.
Proven ability to lead and coordinate multi-functional teams.
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance for the duration of deployment.
Degree qualification (BA/BSc/HND) in a relevant field.
