Role Overview
The Physics and Mathematics Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in accordance with the SABIS® educational model. The role involves using a proprietary point system for teaching, managing classroom environments, and ensuring students meet their academic targets through structured lesson plans and assessment cycles.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Delivery: Teaching classes using provided lesson plans and the SABIS® point system. Developing plans based on provided pacing charts when required.
Assessment and Marking: Marking exams related to the taught subject in accordance with the schedule and materials provided by the department.
Student Performance Management: Discussing disciplinary and performance issues with the Academic Quality Controller (AQC) and Head of Department (HOD).
Classroom Management: Implementing the SABIS® Point System to ensure an environment conducive to learning.
Exam Proctoring: Supervising exams to ensure an adequate and properly managed test environment.
Academic Support: Providing guidance and motivation to academically low-performing students to help them improve and reach their full potential.
External Exam Preparation: Developing and following up on preparation for external exams using structured revision schedules.
Administrative Support: Aiding in testing students, substituting for absent teachers, organizing student logistics (lunches, buses, traffic control), and other administrative duties as assigned.
Student Life Involvement: Preparing and participating in activity plans for student life events (art, open houses, physical education) in coordination with the Student Life Coordinator (SLC).
Professional Development: Attending training sessions to enhance understanding of the SABIS® system and improve overall student performance.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
Certification: Must possess a Teacher Service Commission Number (TSC#).
Experience: At least 1 year of teaching experience.
Language: Proficiency in English (Native English level preferred).
Professionalism: High standard of professional behavior and ethical conduct.
Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills, accountability, ownership, and a commitment to continuous learning.
