Maseno University is seeking a qualified and experienced individual to join the School of Law as a Lecturer in the Department of Private Law (Reference: MSU/ACA/SOL/DPL/03/26). The successful candidate will be responsible for providing academic leadership through teaching, research, and administrative support within the department. This role requires a blend of academic excellence and professional legal experience.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver undergraduate lectures in Private Law courses.
Prepare and update course materials using pedagogy and andragogy principles.
Conduct and publish legal research to contribute to the university's academic standing.
Supervise and mentor law students in their academic and research pursuits.
Participate in departmental committees and administrative activities.
Maintain high professional standards as an Advocate of the High Court.
Ensure high-quality student service and maintain positive interpersonal relations within the faculty.
Requirements and Qualifications
Must possess an earned PhD/LLD, LLM, and LLB degrees from a recognized and reputable University.
Must be admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
Have at least Five (5) years of post-admission experience as a legal practitioner.
Demonstrable training in pedagogy and andragogy skills.
Must have taught Private Law courses at the undergraduate level in a University for at least Three (3) years.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong planning and organizational capabilities.
Good interpersonal, relational, and customer care skills.
Capacity to take initiative and work responsibly under minimal supervision.
