Role Overview\nThe Patient Service Coordinator within the Credit Control Department is responsible for ensuring proper, accurate, and timely management of financial risks associated with hospitalized patients (both cash-paying and third-party payers) from admission until discharge. The role focuses on financial counseling, billing accuracy, and maintaining excellent customer relations to safeguard the hospital's financial interests while providing a seamless experience for patients.\n\n### Key Responsibilities\n* Enhance the corporate image by providing outstanding service to patients, clients, and staff, ensuring all inquiries are addressed promptly.\n* Access systems to verify and confirm credit services applicable to corporate employees based on account entitlement details.\n* Verify patient data to ensure correct billing for services rendered and collect accurate payments.\n* Adhere to corporate client policies and procedures regarding credit facilities when billing patients.\n* Facilitate bill settlements via banker's cheques and direct deposits; perform daily banking of collected funds.\n* Maintain fee-for-service books, prepare Local Purchase Orders (LPOs) for external procedures, and update patient folios daily.\n* Organize and facilitate patient transfers for financial reasons in coordination with relevant departments.\n* Monitor outstanding balances for self-paying patients and credit limits for corporate accounts to maintain a healthy credit balance.\n* Collect medical reports for care managers, process NHIF claims, and generate error-free final bills.\n* Audit and print final discharge documents (NHIF claims, bills, comment sheets) for pick-up by the debtors department.\n* Work with other department members to process admissions and discharges efficiently, reducing wait times.\n\n### Qualifications and Skills\n* Minimum of a Diploma in Business Administration, Credit Management, Public Relations, Front Office Service, or equivalent OR CPA Part II.\n* At least 6 months of experience in a busy Credit Control environment, preferably within a hospital setting. Experience in financial counseling is an added advantage.\n* Proficient in computer use, cash handling, and recording transactions.\n* Culture-sensitive with excellent customer service, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication skills.\n* Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and function effectively in a team environment.
