The TVET Directorate of Amref International University (AMIU) is seeking to engage qualified TVET trainers on a part-time basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching, assessing, and mentoring students within the Social Work department, ensuring high standards of academic delivery and competency acquisition.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction and Training: Deliver course content to trainees in specific units, adhering to curriculum and occupational standards.
Planning and Preparation: Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, and detailed lecture notes; plan and conduct practical sessions assigned to the course units.
Assessment and Grading: Prepare internal examinations, conduct validation, carry out continuous assessments, and mark/grade assignments. Enter all grades into the University ERP system.
Supervision: Oversee trainees in their course areas and provide supervision during industrial attachments.
Student Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to students, monitoring class attendance and academic progress.
Administrative Duties: Maintain appropriate records as required by the directorate and TVET CDACC; perform examination invigilation for both internal and external exams.
Other Duties: Undertake any other responsibilities assigned by the Head of Department (HOD) or Director.
Requirements and Qualifications
Academic Background: Must possess a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work & Community Development.
Teaching Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of relevant teaching experience within a TVET institution.
Professional Certification: Must hold a Certificate in Pedagogy or be registered by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA) as a trainer.
Additional Advantage: At least two (2) years of industry-specific experience is highly desirable.
