Nova Pioneer Education Group is looking for a Student Welfare Associate to be a culture champion for our Tatu Primary & International School. You will spearhead school student culture events aligned with the school's vision and annual theme. This role is central to building and maintaining a positive, safe, and engaging environment for students, parents, and staff.
Key Responsibilities
Student-Focused Responsibilities
Government & Leadership: Manage student government programs including elections, induction, training, and activities.
Feedback & Well-being: Provide safe channels for student feedback and address concerns; manage student happiness surveys (scheduling, analysis, and implementation of improvements).
Mentorship: Lead student mentoring and buddy programs to strengthen peer relationships.
Culture & Recognition: Celebrate students who embody Nova Pioneer culture and values.
Onboarding: Coordinate orientation for new students and transitions for continuing students.
Behavior Management: Own the implementation of the Student Code of Conduct handbook and related policies using a restorative approach.
Daily Operations: Coordinate daily routines from arrival to dismissal, including baraza and recess schedules.
Health & Safety: Lead the health and safety committee, coordinate emergency drills, and ensure first aid training for staff and students.
Parent-Focused Responsibilities
Surveys: Manage family satisfaction surveys and leverage data to improve the student experience.
Transitions: Onboard new families and manage the offboarding process for exiting families.
Enrollment Support: Work with administration and admissions to track and coordinate new enrollments.
Events: Coordinate beginning-of-year activities like 'Week Zero'.
Academic & Student Affairs Collaboration
Professional Development: Train teachers on student behavior management and character building.
Leadership Development: Create systems for teaching leadership to students and provide feedback to teachers on implementation.
Team Management: Coach and manage the School Nurses and School Counselors.
Individual Plans: Collaborate with counselors and teachers to create individual student behavior and support plans.
Duty Rotas: Coordinate school duty rosters and other student life activities.
Skills and Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in psychology, sociology, or the humanities (a degree in Education is desirable).
Leadership: Proven track record of leading teams at the entry or mid-level.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Organization: Strong planning and organizational skills (required for surveys, event lists, and schedules).
Technology: Proficient in using technology tools.
Mindset: Critical thinker, flexible, innovative, and passionate about relationship building.
Confidentiality: High energy and ability to maintain professional confidentiality.
