Amref International University (AMIU) was established in 2017 as a Premier Pan African University of health sciences fully owned by Amref health Africa. The TVET Directorate of AMIU seeks to engage part-time TVET trainers for the Community Health program. The trainer is expected to be available to teach, assess, and mentor students effectively while adhering to established educational standards and curricula.
Principal Responsibilities
Instruct trainees in the specific course(s)/units in adherence to the respective curriculum and occupational standards.
Plan, conduct, and assess practical lessons in the course units assigned.
Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, and detailed lecture notes.
Prepare internal exams, conduct validation of the exams, and carry out continuous assessments.
Supervise and assess trainee(s) in the course area and during industrial attachment.
Mark, grade, and enter the grades into the ERP for the assigned units.
Prepare trainees for external exams by providing practical technical skills as required for effective competency acquisition.
Maintain appropriate records and make them available as required by the directorate and TVET CDACC or any other relevant body.
Adhere to the exam preparation and processing schedule.
Attend all assigned class contact hours and invigilate both internal and external examinations.
Mentor students and monitor class attendance records.
Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Department or Director.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Community Health and Development.
Minimum of two (2) years of relevant teaching experience in a TVET institution.
Must be a holder of a Certificate in Pedagogy or registered by TVETA as a trainer.
Two (2) years of industry experience will be an added advantage.
