Job Description
The Aga Khan Academy Nairobi, operated by Aga Khan Education Service Kenya (AKESK), is seeking a P1 Teacher for a Maternity Reliever position. This role involves preparing and delivering high-quality lessons in line with the school’s vision and mission, specifically focusing on Mathematics, Social Studies, and Kiswahili at the primary level. The successful candidate will work collaboratively to develop the curriculum and ensure that students acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for their progress and future careers.
Key Responsibilities
Lesson Preparation and Delivery: Prepare and deliver high-quality lessons that align with the school's vision and mission.
Curriculum Development: Collaboratively develop unit and lesson plans and produce essential documents such as Unit plans, Records of Work, Course outlines, and class analyses.
Student Progress: Ensure students achieve their targets and acquire excellent skills to prepare them for the next stage of their education.
Differentiated Instruction: Adapt lessons to meet the diverse needs of learners.
Interactive Learning: Engage students in activities such as storytelling, role plays, and recognition of numbers and letters.
Classroom Environment: Showcase student work and finished projects within the classroom to highlight their abilities.
Extracurricular Enrichment: Plan regular excursions to expose students to various environments.
Behavioral Guidance: Monitor student behavior, build their self-confidence, and teach social values.
Inclusive Support: Provide guidance to learners with learning differences and behavioral challenges.
Reporting: Maintain and update records of children's progress and generate reports for parents.
Qualifications and Experience
A P1 Certificate from a recognized teacher training institution.
Valid registration with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
Demonstrated ability to teach Mathematics, Social Studies, and Kiswahili at the primary level.
Sound knowledge and practical understanding of the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC).
At least 2 years of relevant teaching experience in a reputable school.
Good ICT skills, especially in the use of MS Office applications.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
