The Meter Testing Technician (Test Bench/On Site Testing Supervisor) is responsible for supervising on-site and off-site meter testing, calibration, and verification activities. The primary goal is to ensure the accuracy of customer and bulk meters, facilitate early detection of faulty or tampered devices, and support strategies to reduce commercial water losses.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise meter testing teams in conducting calibration, verification, and accuracy checks on customer and bulk meters.
Plan and coordinate on-site meter inspection programs to detect under-registration, tampering, or malfunction.
Maintain accurate records of all tested, calibrated, and replaced meters, including certification and reporting.
Analyze testing results and provide recommendations for meter management strategies to reduce commercial losses.
Monitor and maintain the meter testing bench and equipment.
Train staff and create awareness on correct meter handling, sizing, installation, and maintenance.
Train meter testing operators on the proper use of testing equipment, calibration standards, and fraud detection techniques.
Prepare monthly and periodic reports on metering accuracy, identified metering irregularities, and commercial loss reduction progress.
Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Diploma of Science or Technology in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related field from a recognized learning Institution.
Experience: Minimum 2 years' experience in a related field.
