Our client, a power infrastructure company, is seeking a Mechanical Technician to be based in Kenya. The ideal candidate will be responsible for effectively implementing preventive, condition-based, and breakdown maintenance at the plant for all mechanical machines, equipment, and plant facilities to ensure maximum efficiency and reliability.
Responsibilities and Duties
Assist in start-up, shut-down, and normal operations of the power plant systems.
Complete and maintain all logs and running records in a clear and concise manner according to guidelines.
Take corrective action during system operational disturbances and/or bring such disturbances to the attention of the Operations and Maintenance Supervisor.
Effectively communicate the condition of the plant equipment and performance to shift charge and fellow plant personnel.
Maintain the plant in a clean and safe condition at all times.
Perform emergency procedures to protect personnel and equipment in case of damage or failure of safety systems.
Diagnose faults and ensure timely repairs of factory machines and equipment with minimal or no downtime.
Support planning of new projects and installations.
Utilize all tools, equipment, and accessories in a manner that maximizes their useful operating life.
Perform planned and corrective maintenance, emergency and preventive as directed and account for all parts, materials, and fluids used.
Develop and maintain tools, test fixtures, and documentation.
Health and Safety
Ensure safe and economic operation and maintenance of the plant during the designated shift.
100% adherence with OSHA requirements to ensure safety.
Comply with all safety regulations including isolation, lockout, and tagout (LOTO).
Qualifications and Experience
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
At least 2 years’ experience in operation and/or maintenance of a power plant.
OSHA certification.
Lube oil training certification.
Firefighting and first aid certification.
Fire marshal certification.

Ability to troubleshoot, repair, or replace all components in the plant machinery and equipment.

Salary and Benefits
Monthly basic salary: KES 60,000 – KES 120,000.
