The GSMA represents the interests of mobile operators worldwide, uniting nearly 800 operators with almost 300 companies in the broader mobile ecosystem, including handset and device makers, software companies, equipment providers, and internet companies, as well as organisations in adjacent industry sectors.
In this role, you will work as part of the team to support the scale-up of approaches to increase women’s adoption and use of the internet, reducing the gender gap. You will support a portfolio of partners across Africa interested in accelerating women’s adoption and use of the internet, with a particular focus on increasing smartphone ownership and use.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Assistance & Advisory: Manage and deliver technical assistance and advisory support to organisations supported by the initiative. This includes ensuring effective contracting and management of technical assistance packages.
Thought Leadership: Provide thought leadership, analyse market opportunities, and input into the design and delivery of propositions.
Strategy Development: Create and deliver strategy workshops for partners and track both commercial and social outcomes.
Insight Generation: Generate and share key insights to drive increased awareness and action among stakeholders.
Knowledge Exchange: Document insights and learnings to share findings with the industry ecosystem through presentations, case studies, toolkits, blogs, events, and meetings.
Requirements
Education: BA/BSc/HND degree in a relevant field.
Experience: Strong commercial experience gained through working as a management consultant or within corporate strategy, business planning, or marketing functions, ideally within the digital sector.
Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with strategies that drive inclusion for underserved communities, specifically women. Knowledge of approaches to improving handset affordability and adoption is highly desirable.
Analytical Skills: Ability to quickly understand new data and business models to identify commercial opportunities with substantial social impact.
Communication: Confident and comfortable presenting to senior leadership in the private sector. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
Project Management: Strong project management skills and highly organised to deliver high-impact outputs.
Collaboration: A strong team player, self-aware, and able to work collaboratively.
