The Competition Authority of Kenya (the Authority) is a Statutory Agency established under the Competition Act No.12 of 2010. The Authority’s mandate is to promote and safeguard competition and also protect consumers from unfair and misleading market conduct. As the Manager for Buyer Power, you will play a critical role in overseeing market dynamics where buyers hold significant influence over suppliers, ensuring that such power is not abused and that the market remains competitive and fair.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage investigations into alleged abuses of buyer power across various industries in Kenya.
Oversee the process of evidence collection, ensuring all investigative activities adhere to legal and regulatory standards.
Conduct thorough analysis of market conduct and prepare comprehensive reports on investigation findings for the Authority's leadership.
Provide supervisory and managerial leadership to the team within the Buyer Power department.
Implement strategies for monitoring and addressing buyer power issues to fulfill the Authority's mandate to protect suppliers and promote competitive conduct.
Represent the Authority in matters involving evidence collection, analysis, and reporting regarding buyer power.
Requirements
Education: Masters' Degree and a Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Experience: A minimum of ten (10) years of relevant work experience, with at least three (3) years in a managerial or supervisory role.
Specialized Training: Completion of an Investigations Course on evidence collection, analysis, and reporting (minimum 2 weeks) and a Certificate in Management Course (minimum 4 weeks).
Professional Membership: Professional qualification and membership to a relevant professional body where applicable.
