The Manager, Banking Unit, Branch/Centre Services at the Eldoret branch is responsible for ensuring the provision of efficient, effective, and high-quality banking services in line with the Central Bank of Kenya's mandate and strategic objectives. The role involves overseeing branch functions such as Accounts Management, Banking Services, Mandates, Clearing Operations, Transfers, Government Payments, Document Management, Reconciliation, Risk Management, and Financial Markets client relations (DhowCSD).
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic & Management Responsibilities
Contribute to the achievement of the Bank’s strategic objectives and provide input for the Banking Strategic Plan.
Manage yearly budgeting and training plans for the Banking Unit.
Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to foster a high-performing culture.
Conduct performance assessments for unit staff.
Maintain working relationships with external stakeholders, including County Governments and commercial banks.
Technical and Operational Responsibilities
Oversee teller functions and all other banking services offered at the branch.
Approve bank account openings, amendments, closures, and mandate management.
Oversee Internet Banking application processing and issuance of account statements.
Sign certificates of balances for County Governments.
Manage clearing operations, including outward cheque processing and Image Return Documents (IRDs).
Provide first/second level approval for funds transfers and reversals in the T24 System.
Authorize till openings/closures and approve transactions exceeding cashier limits.
Ensure timely response to customer queries and manage the disposal of documents per retention policies.
Oversee daily reconciliations of bank accounts and monitor internal suspense accounts.
Implement operational risk management and audit recommendations.
Facilitate DhowCSD system navigation for customers and respond to government securities investment inquiries.
Oversee Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) agricultural market surveys and liaison functions for KDIC.
Qualifications and Experience
Academic Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Banking, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field. (Candidates without a degree require at least Ten (10) years of relevant experience).
Experience: Minimum of six (6) years of work experience in Banking Operations, Financial Services, Economics, or Accounting, with at least two (2) years in a supervisory/management capacity.
Preferred Qualifications: A Master’s Degree in a relevant field and professional certifications (Banking, CPA, ACCA, Risk Management) are considered added advantages.
