Job Description
At TakaTaka Solutions, we collect your waste like every other waste collector, but, instead of taking it to a landfill, we take it to our own sites, where we sort the waste, and then recycle 95% either ourselves or through our local partners. This represents one of the highest recycling rates in the world.
Role Overview
The Logistics Assistant is responsible for overseeing fleet operations and waste collections, ensuring they are performed on time, in full, and error-free. The role involves real-time monitoring of vehicles, coordinating with the maintenance workshop, optimizing routes, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Fleet Management & Collections
Live Monitoring: Check live locations using ControlTech. Conduct hour-by-hour spot checks to ensure collections proceed as scheduled.
Trip Oversight: Monitor daily collection trips to ensure they start on time. Follow up specifically on new and sensitive clients.
Communication: Monitor driver WhatsApp groups to identify and resolve issues swiftly through coordination with relevant teams.
Geofencing: Create geofences for all clients and generate daily reports identifying visited and missed sites.
Administration: Monitor trips and raise weekly payment requests. Update mileage (km) on tracking systems and vehicle workshop documents.
Customer Support: Notify customer care regarding any client-related issues (delays/missed collections) with a clear recovery plan.
Compliance: Maintain vehicle compliance trackers (NTSA inspection, speed governor certificates, insurance) and raise renewal requests one month before the due date.
Maintenance
Coordination: Liaise with the Workshop Supervisor on repair timelines for trucks to minimize delays.
Financials: Raise float requests for maintenance and follow up on payments.
Logging: Update workshop logs with truck issues based on regular checks and ad hoc reports. Follow up on the completion of repairs.
Routes Realization
Attendance: Verify staff attendance, assigned routes, and departure times.
Optimization: Visit routes to collect data for route optimization, identifying efficiency opportunities and theft sensitivities.
Driver Onboarding: Direct drivers to all new client locations to ensure the first three collections are successful.
Documentation: Hand out route printouts and truck checklists.
Incident Management: Investigate property damage caused by collection trucks and ensure resolution within 7 days.
Logging
Update collection issues raised by drivers in established Google Sheets.
Complete trip logs with actual times and truck fullness data.
Requirements
Degree or Diploma in any business-related field, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management.
At least one year of proven administrative experience in a Logistics department, ideally in an industrial setting.
Knowledge of logistics software and tracking tools.
