Job Description
Kenya Maritime Authority was established in June 2004 as a semi-autonomous agency to provide regulatory oversight over the Kenyan maritime industry. The Authority is seeking a Licensing and Seaborne Trade Officer to strengthen maritime administration through enhanced data analysis and regulatory compliance.
Role Summary
The Licensing and Seaborne Trade Officer is responsible for managing and analyzing data related to Kenyan imports and exports, specifically focusing on cargo manifests and the automation of business processes. The role involves data mining, validation, and the preparation of statistical reports for international trade shipments, particularly those destined for DR Congo (OGEFREM).
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with IT personnel to develop business rules for data analysis for the subsequent automation of processes.
Compile data for Kenyan imports and exports captured from cargo manifests.
Mine data from primary and secondary sources to support trade oversight.
Validate data to discard irrelevant information, specifically for cargo destined for DR Congo (OGEFREM).
Sort out cargo manifest data related to OGEFREM.
Prepare and send shipment lists to shipping lines related to OGEFREM.
Prepare freighted lists on OGEFREM.
Produce statistical reports for cargo destined to D.R. Congo (OGEFREM).
Analyze and interpret results using standard statistical tools and techniques.
Produce concise data reports with clear visualizations for the industry.
Assist in maintaining records and data of licensed maritime service providers.
Requirements
Must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields: Business Management, Logistics, Maritime Studies, Port Management, or Transport Economics.
