The University of Eldoret is seeking a qualified and experienced individual for the position of Lecturer in the field of Kiswahili Language. This academic role involves teaching, student supervision, research, and contribution to the university's growth through administrative and community services.
Role and Responsibilities
Teach and assess courses in Kiswahili Language at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Supervise undergraduate projects and other experiential learning programs.
Supervise dissertations and theses at the graduate level for those with a PhD.
Participate in the development and review of undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
Initiate, promote, and participate in scholarly research projects.
Provide professional and community services, and initiate institutional linkages and fundraising activities.
Carry out administrative and other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the University management.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must meet one of the following two sets of criteria:
Option 1:
Must have an earned Doctorate Degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized accredited academic institution.
Must hold a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized accredited academic institution.
Option 2:
Must have a Master’s degree from a recognized academic institution plus at least three (3) years of full-time teaching experience at the University level after obtaining the Master’s Degree.
Must have at least 2 articles in refereed journals and a minimum of 24 scholarly publication points (16 of which should be from refereed journals).
Not more than 2 articles should be in a single issue/volume of a journal or other scholarly publications.
Candidates with a Master’s degree are required to register for a Doctorate degree.
Additional Requirements
Must show evidence of evaluated effective teaching.
Must be recognized and registered by relevant professional bodies.
Evidence of affiliation to a professional body will be an added advantage.
