Kenyatta University is a multi-campus public university in Kenya. The institution is seeking a Lecturer in Family Medicine to deliver high-quality instruction and support within the medical faculty, focusing on clinical training and research development.
Role Purpose
The primary purpose of this role is to teach medical students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, supervise clinical activities, and contribute to the academic growth of the School of Medicine.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Instruction: Responsible for teaching both MBChB (undergraduate) and MMed (postgraduate) students within the Family Medicine department.
Clinical Oversight: Supervise and mentor students during their clinical rotations in hospital environments to ensure practical competence and adherence to medical standards.
Research Guidance: Supervise and evaluate student research projects and dissertations.
Curriculum Management: Participate in the development, review, and assessment of academic curricula to ensure they align with modern medical practices and educational requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
Academic Background: Must hold an academic MBChB or an equivalent medical degree from a recognized university.
Specialized Training: Must hold a Postgraduate Master of Medicine (MMed) in Family Medicine from a recognized institution.
Professional Standing: Must be registered with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) and recognized as a Specialist in Family Medicine by the same body.
Work Experience: At least two (2) years of clinical experience in practice as a family physician.
Administrative Background: A minimum of one (1) year of experience working in an administrative position within the health sector.
