Kaimosi Friends University (KAFU) is seeking a qualified academic professional for the position of Lecturer (Grade 12) specializing in Information Technology. As a public-spirited center of excellence, the university aims to make distinctive contributions to society through teaching, research innovation, and holistic development. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing academic leadership, fostering research, and engaging with the community.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Deliver high-quality lectures and instructional materials to students within the Information Technology department.
Conduct original research in relevant IT fields and contribute significantly to the university's research output.
Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students in their academic development and research projects.
Publish research findings in recognized, refereed journals and other high-impact academic platforms.
Participate in the development and review of the IT curriculum to maintain academic relevance and industry standards.
Actively participate in community service and outreach programs, providing documented evidence of such activities.
Engage with professional bodies and industry partners to bridge the gap between academic theory and practical application.
Fulfill administrative and academic duties as assigned by the Head of Department or University administration.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be appointed to this position, applicants must satisfy the following criteria:
Education: Must hold an earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification in Information Technology or a relevant field from an accredited and recognized University.
Alternative Qualification (Master's): Candidates with a Master's degree qualification (considered in special cases) must possess at least three (3) years of university teaching experience or research experience in a relevant area.
Professional Status: Must be registered with a relevant professional body, where applicable.
Publication Record: A minimum of twenty-four (24) publications is required, with at least sixteen (16) of these being from refereed journal papers.
Community Service: Must provide clear evidence of active involvement in community service.
Industry/Research Candidates: Persons joining from research institutions or industry must meet the minimum point requirements for their respective subcategory to qualify for appointment.
