Lecturer, Grade 12 - Clinical Medicine (Surgery)

Kaimosi Friends University (KAFU) is a public-spirited center of excellence established to make distinctive contributions to society in teaching, research innovation, and holistic development. The University is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Lecturer (Grade 12) specializing in Clinical Medicine with a focus on Surgery.

Role Purpose

The Lecturer will be responsible for providing academic instruction, conducting high-impact research, and engaging in community service. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in training medical students and contributing to the university's academic reputation through peer-reviewed publications.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver lectures and clinical tutorials in Clinical Medicine and Surgery.
• Conduct research in relevant medical fields and publish findings in refereed journals.
• Participate in curriculum development and review within the medical department.
• Supervise undergraduate and graduate students in their clinical practice and research projects.
• Provide evidence-based community service and outreach on behalf of the university.
• Participate in departmental and university-wide administrative duties and committees.

Requirements and Qualifications

For appointment to this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Academic Qualifications: An earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field (Clinical Medicine/Surgery) from an accredited and recognized University. Alternatively, have a Master’s degree qualification (in special cases) with at least three (3) years of university teaching experience or research in the relevant area.
• Professional Registration: Must be registered with the relevant professional body (where applicable).
• Publications: Have a minimum of twenty-four (24) publications, of which at least sixteen (16) should be from refereed journal papers.
• Community Service: Must show clear evidence of community service.
• Industry Candidates: Individuals from research institutions, practice, or industry must meet the minimum point requirements for their respective subcategory to qualify for appointment.
