Murang’a University of Technology (MUT) is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Lecturer in Criminology (Grade 12). The University is located 1.5 km from Murang’a Town in Murang'a County, approximately 85 km North East of Nairobi. This role is intended for an academic professional who can contribute significantly to the university's teaching and research profile in the field of Criminology.
Responsibilities and Duties
Deliver comprehensive lectures and tutorials in Criminology to both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Undertake original research and publish findings in reputable, refereed journals.
Supervise students’ research work, including projects, theses, and dissertations.
Participate in curriculum development, review, and improvement within the department.
Engage in administrative duties as assigned by the department or university management.
Participate in community outreach and professional development activities.
Qualifications and Requirements
An earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification in Criminology or a relevant field from an accredited and recognized university.
Candidates with a Master’s degree in the relevant field from an accredited university may be considered in special cases, provided they have at least three (3) years of teaching experience at the university level.
A minimum of twenty-four (24) publication points, with at least sixteen (16) points being from refereed journal papers.
Must be registered or registerable by the relevant professional body (where applicable).
