The University of Eldoret invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Lecturer in Building & Construction. This role involves academic instruction, research, and administrative participation within the University, which is located near Eldoret town in Uasin Gishu County. The successful candidate will contribute to the university's mission of providing quality education and advancing knowledge in the field of construction and site engineering.
Responsibilities and Duties
Teaching and Assessment: Conduct lectures and evaluate student progress in Building & Construction courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Student Supervision: Supervise undergraduate projects and experiential learning programs. Candidates with a PhD will also supervise graduate-level dissertations and theses.
Curriculum Development: Participate in the design and periodic review of academic courses and programs.
Research: Initiate, promote, and engage in original research projects within the discipline.
Community and Professional Service: Provide professional expertise to the community, initiate industry linkages, and assist in fundraising activities.
Administrative Duties: Carry out administrative tasks and other responsibilities as assigned by the university management.
Qualifications and Requirements
Option A (For PhD Holders):
An earned Doctorate Degree in a relevant discipline from the University of Eldoret or a recognized accredited academic institution.
A Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in a relevant discipline from the University of Eldoret or a recognized accredited academic institution.
Option B (For Master's Holders):
A Master’s degree from a recognized academic institution.
At least three (3) years of full-time teaching experience at the University level after obtaining the Master’s Degree.
A minimum of two (2) articles in refereed journals.
A minimum of 24 scholarly publication points, with at least 16 points derived from refereed journals.
No more than two (2) articles should be in a single issue/volume of a journal.
Commitment to register for and pursue a Doctorate degree.
Common Requirements:
Evidence of evaluated effective teaching performance.
Recognition and registration by relevant professional bodies.
Evidence of affiliation to a professional body is an added advantage.
