Leather Development Officer

This role is for a Leather Development Officer within the County Government of Kitui, offered on Permanent and Pensionable terms of service.

The salary scale for this position is competitive, ranging from Ksh. 39,700 to Ksh. 52,690 per month (Ksh. 39,700 x 1,470 – 41,170 x 1,520 – 42,690 x 1,710 – 44,400 x 1,920 – 46,320 x 2,000 – 48,320 x 2,290 – 50,610 x 2,350 – 52,690 p.m.).

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will undertake the following key responsibilities:

1. Promoting production of quality hides and skins.
2. Carrying out sensitization on standards on leather products.
3. Carrying out training needs assessment in the leather value chain.
4. Identification/recruitment of MSMEs to be trained in production of leather and leather products.
5. Leather sector data collection.
6. Promotion of appropriate environmental management in the leather sector.

Requirements for Appointment

Candidates must meet the following mandatory qualifications:

• Be a Citizen of Kenya.
• Hold a Bachelor’s Degree either in Leather Technology/Science/Manufacture or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
• Possess a certificate in computer proficiency applications.
