This position is responsible for the day-to-day work of improving the quality of hides and skins and promoting leather value addition for local and international markets. The successful candidates will work under the Nairobi City County Public Service Board to enhance the leather industry within the region.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Technical Guidance: Demonstrating to traders and skin flayers the appropriate methods of flaying to ensure quality output.
Processing & Maintenance: Overseeing the cleaning, curing, and storage of hides and skins.
Logistics Management: Ensuring that hides and skins are delivered to curing premises immediately after flaying to prevent spoilage.
Data Collection: Gathering and recording data on production, grading, and defects of hides and skins.
Regulatory Control: Issuing dispatch notes to facilitate the movement of hides and skins as a disease control measure.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: A two-year Certificate in either Hides and Skins Improvement or Leather Technology from a recognized institution.
Professional Skills:
Certificate in Leather Technology.
Certificate in Computer application skills.
Constitutional Compliance: Must meet the leadership and integrity requirements set out in Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
Experience: This is an entry-level position.
