Mount Kenya University (MKU) is seeking a qualified Laboratory Technologist specialized in Public Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing laboratory activities, supporting academic practicals, and ensuring the smooth operation of laboratory equipment and research projects. This role reports directly to the Principal Laboratory Technologist.
Key Responsibilities
Practical Support: Preparing, conducting, and supervising practical classes or courses for students.
Research: Participating in research initiatives and supporting student projects.
Maintenance: Servicing and maintaining scientific equipment according to operational instruction manuals.
Inventory Management: Ensuring that equipment spare parts and necessary laboratory supplies are available.
Evaluation: Assessing, determining, and evaluating requirements for assigned practical work.
General Duties: Any other duty as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor of Science in Public Health or Environmental Health from a recognized academic institution.
Experience: At least 3 years of working experience in a public health laboratory or research center.
Registration: Must be registered by the Public Health Officers and Technicians Council (PHOTC) with a valid practice license.
Computer Skills: Must be computer literate.
Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
