Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

Responsibilities

• Work in an intermediate life support unit as an emergency care provider or an ambulance operator (driver).
• Assess patient history, diagnose conditions, and plan and implement emergency medical care interventions.
• Reassess patient outcomes regularly to ensure effective treatment.
• Administer authorized medications as required.
• Initiate basic intravenous therapies.
• Provide autonomous basic life support interventions and supervised advanced cardiac life support interventions.
• Maintain accurate patient care reports and keep comprehensive patient records.
• Identify, manage, and refer emergency medical care cases.
• Refer patients, experts, and specimens to appropriate medical facilities.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Diploma in Emergency Medical Services, Emergency Medical Technology, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized training institution.
• OR A valid certificate in Emergency Medical Technician - Advanced course or Emergency Medical Services Instructor course from the Kenya Red Cross Society or the Kenya Council of Emergency Medical Technicians.
• Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade C, with at least a C+ in Biology or Chemistry and a D in English or Kiswahili (or its equivalent).
• OR A valid Emergency Medical Technician - Basic certificate.
• A valid class BCE driver’s license with Public Service Vehicle (PSV) authorization.
• A valid practicing license from a recognized licensing institution.
