Role Overview
This is a middle-level technical position at Pwani University under reference REF: PU/ADV/11/05/2026. The role involves providing specialized technical support in the pathology laboratory, ensuring efficient operations for both teaching and research purposes. Appointment terms and conditions are determined by the University Council in alignment with Kenyan Labour Laws. Responsibilities
Provide technical support in the pathology laboratory for students and academic staff.
Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure calibration and safety standards are met.
Prepare biological specimens and conduct pathology-related analysis, specifically focusing on cell biology and cytology.
Manage laboratory inventory, reagents, and supplies.
Ensure strict compliance with institutional safety protocols and health regulations.
Participate in community involvement activities as part of the university's outreach.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Cell Biology with an MSc in Cytology or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Professional Membership: Candidates must be registered members of relevant professional bodies.
Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience is required. Experience working in a higher institution of learning will be considered a distinct advantage.
Community Involvement: Demonstrate involvement in community activities (e.g., serving as a member of a Board of Governors (BOG), School Management Committee (SMC), etc.).
