Job Description
Pwani University is seeking to recruit a Laboratory Technician II Histology. This is a middle-level position within the university cadre. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support within the Histology and Cytology laboratories to support the university's academic and research objectives.
Responsibilities
Prepare biological tissue samples for microscopic examination and analysis.
Maintain and calibrate specialized histology laboratory equipment.
Assist faculty and students during laboratory practical sessions and research projects.
Manage laboratory inventory, including chemicals, reagents, and specimens.
Ensure strict adherence to laboratory health and safety protocols and quality control standards.
Maintain accurate records of laboratory activities and experimental results.
Qualifications and Requirements
Academic Qualification: A Bachelor's Degree in Histology/Cytology, Biomedical Sciences, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Professional Membership: Must be a registered member of relevant professional bodies.
Work Experience: At least two (2) years of relevant work experience in a laboratory setting.
Added Advantage: Previous experience working in a higher institution of learning.
Community Involvement: Demonstrated involvement in community service or leadership roles (e.g., Member of BOG, SMC, etc.).
