Role Overview
The Kitchen Porter at Tenwek Hospital supports the kitchen team by maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and organization in all food preparation areas. This role ensures compliance with health and safety standards to facilitate a safe and efficient culinary environment.
Key Responsibilities
Sanitization: Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces regularly.
Waste Management: Ensure proper waste disposal in accordance with hospital hygiene standards.
Culinary Support: Assist in basic food preparation tasks as directed by the chef.
Area Maintenance: Maintain the cleanliness of floors, walls, storage areas, and washing stations.
Supplies Management: Ensure an adequate supply of clean utensils and equipment is available during kitchen operations.
Logistics: Support stock handling and storage, including receiving deliveries.
Compliance: Adhere strictly to infection prevention and food safety guidelines at all times.
Reporting: Promptly report any maintenance or hygiene issues to the supervisor.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: KCSE Certificate or equivalent.
Certifications: A Certificate in Food Handling or Hygiene is an added advantage.
Experience: Previous experience in a busy kitchen environment is preferred.
