Nova Pioneer Education Group is seeking a dedicated and passionate JSS Integrated Science Resident Teacher (specializing in Biology and Chemistry) for our Athi River School. We prepare the next generation of leaders and innovators through world-class teaching methods emphasizing 21st-century skills. The successful candidate will deliver enquiry-based lessons aligned with the Kenya curriculum and foster a joy for learning among students.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Delivery: Teach and deliver exceptional, real-world, enquiry-based Biology / Chemistry lessons that align with the Kenya curriculum requirements.
Relationship Management: Maintain positive, constructive, and professional relationships with students, their families, and colleagues.
Curriculum Development: Develop lesson plans and partner with the Learning Design Team in reviewing and updating lessons when required or desired.
Classroom Environment: Create a learning environment that is conducive to learning, developmentally appropriate, organized, and focused.
Student Motivation: Infuse joy and passion for learning in lessons so that students are excited and interested in their academic excellence.
Individualized Support: Provide necessary accommodations and modifications for the growth and success of all students in both academic and culture expectations.
Assessment: Be accountable for students’ mastery of content and academic standards; set and communicate rigorous and ambitious goals.
Technology Integration: Integrate interactive technology into lessons to enhance instructional delivery.
Feedback and Discipline: Provide effective student feedback and maintain consistent rewards or consequences for student behavior while modeling expected behavior.
Administrative Duties: Serve as teacher on duty and/or boarding teacher on duty; support school-wide programs aimed at behavior interventions.
Data Management: Timely capture student data on academic outcomes and articulate progress to families and stakeholders.
Mentorship: Serve as a home room teacher when called upon to do so.
Requirements and Qualifications
Certification: Must possess valid TSC (Teachers Service Commission) certification.
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Education (Science) and qualified to teach two subjects (Biology and Chemistry).
Academic Standards: Attained a minimum grade of C+ in the teaching subjects and a minimum of a C+ grade in KCSE.
Experience: Strictly 3+ years of teaching experience in Biology / Chemistry in JSS (Junior Secondary School) or High School.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Personal Attributes: Flexible, open to change, and a proactive problem solver.
