South Eastern Kenya University (SEKU) is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Internal Auditor. The role is responsible for evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes within the University to ensure the integrity of the institution's financial and operational activities.
Responsibilities
Implement internal audit policies and programs in accordance with the professional standards that govern auditing.
Conduct investigations to ensure all associated risks are detected in time.
Participate in preparing internal audit department budgets and work plans.
Implement an annual risk-based internal audit plan for review and approval by the Audit, Governance and Risk Management Committee.
Prepare and document work plans, testing results, conclusions, and recommendations.
Follow up on the implementation of audit findings and corrective actions.
Collect and compile audit evidence reports received from other departments and prepare reports for onward transmission.
Review internal controls in the University through audit reviews and queries, and communicate identified weaknesses to the departmental head for consideration.
Qualifications and Requirements
A Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting (or its equivalent) from an accredited and recognized university.
CPA (II) or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
At least four (4) years of relevant working experience.
Outstanding professional competence and hands-on experience in Financial Management and reporting.
Demonstrated high administrative capabilities.
Computer literate (Accounting packages) with a detailed understanding of ERP systems.
Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity upon successful appointment.
