Job Description
The Hansard Services department at the County Assembly of Bungoma is responsible for the recording, transcribing, editing, and production of verbatim reports of Assembly plenary proceedings and committee sittings. This internship role is designed to support these critical functions while providing the intern with hands-on experience in legislative documentation and verbatim reporting.
Responsibilities
Assist in the recording of County Assembly plenary proceedings and committee sittings.
Support the transcription of audio recordings into written verbatim reports.
Assist in editing and proofreading reports to ensure accuracy and adherence to legislative standards.
Help in the production and filing of the official Hansard reports.
Maintain confidentiality and integrity in handling legislative records.
Qualifications and Requirements
Must be a Kenyan citizen aged between 18 and 35 years.
Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Linguistics, Mass Communication, Journalism, English, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized university (A minimum of a Diploma or Degree in the relevant field is required).
Must have successfully completed studies within the last two (2) years.
Must provide a recommendation or introduction letter from the institution of learning.
Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken, is mandatory.
Proficiency in typing and transcription, with a minimum typing speed of 50 words per minute (wpm), is an added advantage.
Familiarity with audio transcription software or similar tools is an added advantage.
