Hydrogeologist I

The County Government of Kisumu is seeking a qualified Hydrogeologist I. This role involves professional scientific and technical work related to the study and management of groundwater resources. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating groundwater quality and quantity, monitoring hydrological cycles, and ensuring the sustainable use of water resources within Kisumu County.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Monitor and evaluate groundwater resources and hydrological cycles.
• Conduct field investigations and geological mapping to identify potential groundwater sources.
• Analyze data to assess water quality and quantity for various uses.
• Provide technical guidance on borehole drilling and construction standards.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and professional standards in water management.
• Maintain accurate water resource databases and technical reports.
• Supervise junior staff and technical teams in the field.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

• Kenyan Citizenship.
• Served in the grade of Hydrologist II Job Group K or its equivalent for a minimum period of three (3) years or in a comparable and relevant position.
• A Bachelor's Degree in any of the following disciplines: Hydrology, Geology (with relevant hydrogeology focus), Geoscience with concentration in hydrogeological or ground water science, or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
• Proven competence and merit in work performance.
• Strong communication, analytical, and supervisory skills.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and professional standards.
• Proficiency in computer applications.

Additional Information

• Candidates with foreign Degrees must have them authenticated by the Commission for University Education (CUE).
• Chapter 6 integrity requirements will be required only from successful applicants.
