Job Description
Standard Bank Group is the largest African banking group by assets offering a full range of banking and related financial services. The Head, People & Culture will provide strategic direction to Country Leadership on all People & Culture (P&C) requirements. This involves developing and aligning the P&C strategy for the country to the Group P&C Strategy, Group Business Unit strategies, and the country’s strategic imperatives.
Responsibilities
Accountable for implementing the P&C strategy and the delivery of P&C services, policies, and programs across the business.
Act as an active member of the country executive team.
Provide strategic direction to Country Leadership on all P&C requirements.
Develop and align the P&C strategy for the country to the Group P&C Strategy and Business Unit strategies.
Manage industrial relations in Kenya, including engagement with trade unions and collective bargaining processes.
Work as a strategic partner to business leadership across the geography, including multiple portfolios and locations.
Lead within a multinational or matrix structure with the executive and senior management teams in a complex environment.
Ensure alignment with global HR frameworks and international labour standards.
Drive people strategies in complex, dynamic organisations.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education: A Degree in Human Resources or a related field is required. A Post Graduate degree in Business Commerce, Human Resources, or Social Science is an advantage. A Master’s Degree in Human Resources is preferred.
Professional Certification: Required/mandatory registration with the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) and possession of a valid annual Practising Certificate in accordance with the HRMP Act, 2012.
Professional Qualification: Required/mandatory CHRP-K qualification (or recognised equivalent certification) from HRMPEB.
Experience:
Minimum 10 years’ progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years operating at senior management level.
Demonstrated governance awareness and ability to discharge fiduciary responsibilities consistent with the Companies Act (2015).
Demonstrable and current knowledge of the Employment Act (2007), Labour Relations Act (2007), and Occupational Safety and Health Act (2007).
Proven experience managing industrial relations in Kenya, including engagement with trade unions.
Experience within a multinational or matrix structure aligning with global HR frameworks.
