The Head of Asset Finance role holder has a key responsibility for the strategic business growth initiatives in the Asset Finance Department, management of the growth and maintenance of the Asset Finance (Hire Purchase & Insurance Premium Finance) portfolio, and cross-selling other bank products to Asset Finance customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategy Formulation: Formulating strategic direction for the Asset finance department across all business segments including Personal Banking, Premium Banking, Business Banking, and Corporate & Institutional Banking.
- Execution: Implementing strategic plans to maximize returns on the bank’s investments in HP and IPF Products in collaboration with business segments.
- Market Opportunity Identification: Identify viable investment opportunities for HP and IPF in the market.
- Macro-economic Analysis: Evaluate key macro-economic indicators and guide the Bank on their likely impact on HP and IPF investments.
- Portfolio Management: Ensure that the HP and IPF book is monitored and evaluated on a continuous basis and reported to management periodically.
- Team Leadership: Lead, motivate, and create a good working environment for all staff to enhance productivity and performance, including performance appraisals.
- Performance Management: Responsible for individual and team annual performance objectives and target setting; reviewing performance regularly against agreed targets.
- Coaching and Development: Coach and provide feedback to direct reports and collaborate with stakeholders to identify and satisfy training needs.
- Risk Compliance: In collaboration with risk and credit departments, formulate and ensure adherence to the credit risk framework.
- Reporting: Responsible for the overall Reports and MIS on Asset Finance and HP.
- Operational Oversight: Manage the HP and IPF Credit Process including underwriting, booking of facilities, and payments to dealers/partners.
- Digital Innovation: Drive technological initiatives geared towards automation for efficiency and service excellence.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a critical liaison with service providers and partners; manage relationships with motor dealers and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
- Business Development: Analyze new niche markets, develop dealer joint promotion schemes, and organize business promotion functions/events.
- Tendering: Prepare and participate in tendering for asset finance business.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field.
- Professional Status: Relevant professional qualification and membership to a relevant professional body.
- Experience: Over Seven (7) years’ relevant experience with over Three (3) years in management within a similar organization.
