Role Overview
Amentum is seeking a Graphic Artist to provide comprehensive arts, graphic, and media printing services. The role involves meeting customer requests to deliver high-quality personalized products, including custom apparel and engraved items, while supporting the marketing and advertising efforts of MWR (Morale, Welfare, and Recreation) operations through professional design and publication services.
Key Responsibilities
- Production Services: Provide media printing and graphic services including custom T-shirt printing, sports uniform creation, and engraving brass trophy plates and brass plaque plates.
- Design Collaboration: Collaborate with customers to receive and interpret design orders and customer-owned designs, ensuring services are performed accurately and professionally.
- CAD & Graphic Tools: Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software and relevant design tools (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, CorelDRAW, or equivalent) to create unique and customized arts, graphics, and media work.
- Marketing & Outreach: Produce a monthly color MWR Newsletter to market events, snack bars, and clubs. Create and submit timely input concerning recreational and club events to various platforms such as the Plan of the Day, Tropical Times, and Naval Media Center.
- Compliance & Maintenance: Operate and maintain printing, engraving, and graphic design equipment. Ensure all materials align with branding, formatting, and content standards for MWR marketing and Navy regulations.
- Project Management: Maintain accurate records of customer orders and transactions. Meet deadlines and manage multiple projects while producing high-quality deliverables.
- Process Improvement: Actively seek ways to improve graphic, printing, and media services by staying up-to-date with technology and design trends.
Requirements
- Experience: 2-4 years of experience in graphic design, media production, or arts-related fields.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications or formal education in graphic design, arts, marketing, or a related field is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software and relevant design tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, CorelDRAW. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Hands-on Skills: Experience operating printing machines, engravers, and other graphic media production equipment.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills to interact directly with customers and deliver high-quality, personalized designs.
- Travel Readiness: Must possess a valid passport (valid for minimum 1 year at time of hiring) and be able to travel internationally.
- Physical/Legal: Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance throughout deployment; must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce.
- Valid country driver’s license.
- Strong background in marketing for events and programs, including social media and traditional advertising.
- Prior experience creating designs for government, military, or MWR-related programs.
- Understanding of engraving techniques and equipment operation.
- Knowledge of Navy regulations, branding, and marketing guidelines.
