Role Overview
Shining Hope for Communities (SHOFCO) is seeking a Gender and Inclusion Caseworker to lead the management of its Gender-Based Violence (GBV) case management component and child protection initiatives. This role is responsible for ensuring that survivors receive holistic support through assessment, counseling, and coordination with legal and medical services.
Key Responsibilities
Case Management: Conduct background and psychosocial assessments for all new cases. Maintain comprehensive and organized case files while ensuring strict confidentiality.
Monitoring & Follow-up: Perform regular monitoring and progress reviews for ongoing cases to ensure timely intervention.
Direct Support: Provide basic counseling and general case management services to survivors.
Service Coordination: Link clients to essential care services, including medical examinations, police reporting, and legal authorities to facilitate the arrest and prosecution of perpetrators.
Child Protection: Identify children at risk and ensure they are referred to appropriate protection services and support.
Educational Outreach: Facilitate school sessions for Rights of Children (ROC) clubs, teaching life planning skills, Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH), and gender issues.
Community Sensitization: Organize and lead awareness campaigns, including door-to-door sensitizations and school outreach programs focused on combating sexual and gender-based violence.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Build and maintain strong partnerships with other GBV stakeholders and relevant community partners.
Referral Pathways: Assist in mapping services and developing functional referral pathways for efficient service delivery.
Training: Manage the SUN Gender desk in designated sites and train gender champions on GBV and SGBV issues.
Job Requirements
Academic: Diploma in Social Sciences, Social Work, Gender Studies, or a related field.
Professional: Specialized training in child protection work is required.
Preferred: Professional experience as a trainer in life planning skills, gender issues, SRH, or as a youth mentor is an added advantage.
