The Finance Manager at CDL Human Resource acts as a strategic partner to the CEO and leadership team, providing financial insights to guide overall company strategy, including new product launches, market expansion, and evaluation of potential product lines. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing the organization's financial health by leading budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes. The manager will evaluate investment opportunities, manage the capital budget, and optimize operational finance, including working capital and supply chain logistics. Additionally, the role involves overseeing all accounting functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards (KRA, IFRS), and mentoring a high-performing finance team.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Planning
- Strategic Planning: Provide financial insights to guide company strategy and evaluate growth opportunities.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead implementation of budgeting and long-term financial planning processes.
- Financial Analysis: Offer data-driven insights to support departments such as sales, procurement, and HR.
- Capital Allocation: Evaluate investment opportunities and manage the company's capital budget (CAPEX and working capital).
Operational Finance
- Working Capital Management: Optimize inventory, receivables, and payables cycles to ensure healthy cash flow.
- Cost & Margin Management: Identify cost-saving initiatives and track gross margins by SKU and category.
- Trade Spend Efficiency: Monitor ROI on trade promotions and marketing spend.
- Pricing Optimization: Develop structures for daily pricing decisions and route-to-market strategies.
- Supply Chain Finance: Partner with operations to manage logistics expenses and establish cost-per-route metrics.
- Wastage Control: Implement financial tracking for wastage and shrinkage at the depot level.
Accounting, Compliance & Risk Management
- Financial Reporting: Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements per IFRS/local GAAP.
- Internal Controls: Maintain procedures to safeguard assets and ensure audit readiness.
- Tax & Regulatory Compliance: Ensure strict compliance with KRA, county taxes, and other statutory requirements (NEMA, OSHA).
- Risk Management: Mitigate market, credit, and operational risks.
- Inventory Accounting: Oversee accurate inventory valuation and monthly cycle counts.
Leadership & Stakeholder Relations
- Team Leadership: Mentor and develop the finance and accounting team.
- Stakeholder Relations: Liaison with external auditors, banks, and investors.
- Systems Integration: Champion the integration of ERP, POS, and financial APIs (M-Pesa, ETIMS).
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Professional qualification such as CPA (K), ACCA, or equivalent.
- 5-7 years of experience in a Finance leadership role, preferably within FMCG, Agribusiness, or Supply Chain.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards (IFRS), tax regulations, and audit processes.
- Proven experience in cash flow management and financial modeling.
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and leadership abilities.
- High integrity and attention to detail.
